“The eye should wander, discover, indeed, it should read. This demands time, also from the viewers. My wish is that they become involved, allow themselves to be lured into this contem-plative atmosphere, which is at the same time a state of concentrated attention.”

Anne Hausner

Anne Hausner finds the themes for her contemplative works in nature. Whole series within the work complexes entitled “Water”, “Sky”, “Earth” and “Stones” are the fruit of her observation skill and her attention to detail. These “nature pieces” are focussed both on extreme proximity and on the far distance, the aim being to fathom the essence of things and see it as a metaphor for totality.

Individual paintings, diptychs and cycles within the respective series illustrate the diversity of these blocks of themes, something that is also reflected in the formats used: these range from the small intimate cabinet piece to the extreme horizontal format.

It is of importance to the artist to explore all the possibilities of the respective viewpoint. This also corresponds to her additive working method of addressing different themes in par-allel but always only focussing on one work until it is accomplished. The series thus allows differentiated approaches, “giving the painter as well as the viewer the freedom to form an image themselves,” as Anne Hausner puts it. Everyone can experience this for themselves in the exhibition.
